- 4 cans of black beans
- Cooked white rice
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons of minced garlic
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 1 teaspoon of ginger paste
- 1 teaspoon of cumin
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Add onions and butter to pan over medium heat
- Once onions are translucent, add garlic and ginger paste
- Stir slowly for a few minutes, then add smoked paprika, cinnamon, cumin
- Turn heat up to high – add beans and bay leaves. Bring mixture up to a boil, then turn heat down to simmer
- Let simmer for at least 5 minutes, then add salt and pepper to taste
- Pour over rice
